Microsoft Loop

What is Microsoft Loop?

Microsoft Loop is a modern collaboration tool in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem designed to enable teams to think, plan, and create together seamlessly.

It introduces flexible components—such as lists, tables, and notes—that can be shared and edited in real-time across multiple Microsoft 365 apps like Teams, Outlook, and Word.
Instead of switching between apps or copying content back and forth, Loop allows information to stay live and in sync wherever it is pasted, improving the speed and quality of team collaboration.

Why Use Microsoft Loop?

Microsoft Loop solves one of the biggest challenges in modern work: fragmented collaboration.
Instead of managing separate files, emails, and chat messages, Loop provides a unified way to collaborate:

  • Real-Time Co-Authoring: Multiple users can work together on the same content simultaneously, regardless of where it lives.
  • Centralized Information: Instead of tracking multiple versions of a document, a single Loop component can be updated across all places where it’s embedded.
  • Cross-App Collaboration: Edits made in Microsoft Teams automatically reflect in Outlook, Word Online, and other supported apps without any manual syncing.
  • Project Spaces: Loop offers collaborative workspaces where teams can manage projects, track progress, and organize ideas in one place.

In short, Microsoft Loop increases agility, keeps teamwork synchronized, and minimizes confusion when collaborating on projects across apps.

Is Microsoft Loop Free?

Microsoft Loop is available to users who have a Microsoft 365 subscription.

  • For business and enterprise users, Loop is included in many Microsoft 365 plans (such as Business Standard, E3, and E5).
  • For personal users, access depends on the availability and rollout stage of Microsoft 365 features within consumer plans.

There is currently no standalone free version of Microsoft Loop. However, users with eligible Microsoft 365 subscriptions can access Loop without any additional cost.

Microsoft has also released a public preview version accessible to users with a personal Microsoft account, but with limited functionalities compared to enterprise features.
